“To be a Christian
without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.”
-Martin Luther
Throughout
this study on prayer I have tried to deepen my relationship with God. However,
it has been so difficult to comprehend the beauty that, if I pray with complete
faith, God will answer me. “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for
in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24.
This is one of the verses that I continually have found comfort and assurance
in. Even after being a Christian and going to church for over sixteen years, I still
can’t fathom how much God cares for me. Even with seven billion people in the
world, He hears my prayers. Over the past couple of months I’ve really started to
take this into consideration and it has made me want to pray more. I’m finally
starting to develop the relationship with God that I so desire because I am
starting to comprehend the power of prayer. Without prayer our faith is dead. I
don’t ever want my faith to die out.
The only question is this: How do we start? How do we
begin to better our prayer lives? This took a lot of time for me to figure out.
In fact I’m still figuring it out. For the longest time I had no idea where to
start. I always wanted that closeness with God but I always felt held back and
confused. The key is to surrender. There is no set in stone way as to how to
pray. Let the Holy Spirit guide you and lead you in what to pray for.
