Sharing Salvation

I like many of you, find it hard to share the gospel with non-believers.  It is challenging starting a conversation and even more so continuing it.  I feel like when I try to talk to my non-Christian friends I start feeling really nervous and afraid that they are getting tired of me trying to share the gospel with them.  It is hard to know what to say and teach what some of us have known since we were born.  I noticed that having a small symbol with me wherever I go brings up questions that non-believers want answers to.

When I went to a Mathew West concert, I bought a Mathew West bracelet, which had the title of one of my favorite songs on it, Child of the One True King.  Many people have asked me about it and it gives me an opportunity to tell them about salvation. They are the ones curious and wanting to know more about God, instead of you feeling like you are awkwardly bringing up God when they don’t seem to want to hear about him.

A similar thing can be done by putting a tag line under your name or username on sites you go on, for your watchers or followers to see and ask questions about God and salvation.  Then you have the privilege in talking to them about God and what he did for us.  I also find it easier to talk to people online so they can’t see how nervous I am, and I will be able to continue talking about it to them for a while instead of fading of the conversation.

Salvation

Salvation
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10:9-10

I particularly like this verse because it gives a solid definition of salvation. Many times even Christians will focus on works and what they can do to get to heaven when in reality that’s not what’s important. Salvation is something that is so easily accessible for us. All we have to do is believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths. That’s all we have to do. God doesn’t need us; He wants us. He wants us to have a relationship with Him so much that He sent Jesus to die for us. All we have to do is believe.

One of my favorite examples of salvation is the man on the cross next to Jesus. He was a person who had sinned so much in his life that he was sentenced to death on a cross. However, while he was dying he asked Jesus to remember him, to which Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” I love this verse because it shows that you don’t have to be perfect, spend your whole life going to church, and doing good deeds to get to heaven. Anyone can get to heaven as long as he truly loves and believes in the Lord. Now this doesn’t mean you should live your whole life in sin and at the last second turn to Christ. It just means that it’s never too late. If you are a Christian you should want to spend your life honoring God by doing good deeds and bringing others to Christ. Jesus led by example and spent His ministry serving others, so we should as well. If we truly love Christ we will do anything for Him because He has given us the ultimate gift of salvation.

The lost and the seeking (Salvation)

How do we distinguish what is good, bad, or evil?
God. God is our answer to everything, when science, web MD, or Wikipedia cannot give us a specific answers; God can. How? Well God is omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent, meaning he is all-present, all knowing and all powerful. We cannot try to hide things from God because he is everywhere, knows everything, and all things are possible for him. He knows you better than anyone! He knows you better then you know yourself, and he knows you because he made you, you are his child, YOU WERE MADE FROM HIM.
If we were made from him, why aren’t we like him?
Originally we were made perfect. He created man and woman and there was no sin, until we disobeyed God and Let Satan take control . Ever since then creation was imperfect. Disease broke out, innocence was no longer, and all darkness was invited in. There is only one way to become one with God, and that is to die. But not literally. What I mean is to die in your old ways of sin and give and live your life for Him as His disciple.
How do we live our life for God?
1 John 2:6 says this "Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did." Many may know who Jesus is, a disciple, Gods son sent to earth in a physical body. But is it possible to live like Jesus did in this secular world? My opinion, no. We will never be perfect so long as we live on this earth, but we were not designed to live here. We are not made for earth but instead somewhere a million times better. ETERNITY.
What Is Eternity?
Think of paradise: a place with white sand beaches, palm trees, and crystal blue waters. That might not be what eternity looks like, but I hope that’s what mine looks like (laugh). But back on track, the Bible tells us that if we believe in Christ and His word we will have a life after life. I believe our life on earth is only temporary, although it might not seem like it. We may live 100 years in this life, but in eternity we will live forever, there will be no pain, no suffering and no evil.
Why is Christianity the right religion?
Every religion thinks their religion is the right one, maybe because you were brain washed by your parents or religious teachers, or maybe because growing up that was all you knew. Whatever the reason may be ALL religions can be good. All religions teach discipline and morals. All religions praise something or someone higher then themselves. But what is the point? Why Christianity? Well I love my religion because we are all excepted, God calls us to come as we are, the broken the lost and the weary.

As a young girl I attended the cliche Sunday school and church service. And every couple of months i would sit my squirming young seven year old body into a stiff purple church pew, to listen to my pastor talk about some subject that I wasn’t that interested in. (I was seven, so excuse my horrible church edicate.) At the beginning of the service, my pastor would make announcements about baby dedications, family barbecues and light things like that. Every Sunday he would always include a very short announcement about baptism class.
I never wanted to go because who would ever want to take another class outside of the seven hours of school per day, to listen about being dunked in water and have people applaud. I was missing the point. As years passed I saw my close friends take the class and get baptized on the same Sundays, and out of my pride I said to myself “I will NOT get baptized while my friends are getting baptized!’ and ‘I will make my faith my own before i get baptized!”, you might think “wow! so mature for not getting baptized because everyone else was!” BUT that wasn’t really the case… I didn’t get baptized because i was lazy and i wanted to be set apart from all of my friends (in a hipster, turning my nose up at trends kind of way)
For years I struggled with wanting to get baptized, and with my laziness and pride, and all through eighth grade I wrestled with the thoughts of “I know there is a God, I know he exists, everyone is talking about him like he is a friend, and their relationships with him, there must be something wrong with me because i never felt God’s presence in that way, or at all.” (If you are in this spot, I would like you to know that God is ACTIVELY pursuing you!) During that eighth grade summer, i went on my first overseas missions trip to Haiti, and without explaining the whole entire trip to you (which would take DAYS) I will briefly say that, even though my heart wasn’t in it for God, I saw him working and saw the joy and love that he brought to the people in Haiti. Once i got back, my heart wasn’t instantly transformed into the “Jesus loves me! I love you!” mode, but I just became more aware of his presence in my life.
Life continued on and I was facing the big looming High School question. And soon enough I was enrolled into Faith Bible High School, and I absolutely despised it! I didn’t want to go to school, I came home from school crying, and i genuinely did NOT want to go there. at all. period. And that is how my pride, and laziness came to bite me in the butt again.
I was lazy and didn’t want to go to school, and I was prideful to the fact that I was not going to let God work in me because ‘I had it all together, I accepted Jesus into my heart, I prayed the prayer and I don’t need this environment because i have it ALL together.’ You probably know as well as I do that i definitely did not have it all together. Everyday I would walk into class and see my friends talking about how Jesus was working in their life, and over time, our God softened my heart to see how much my heavenly Father was pursuing me.
Back to the baptism subject. Every winter my school has an at home missions trip called “Impact”, where we volunteer at near by organizations to ‘Impact’ (heyo!) our community. During this missions trip, I saw God working through my peers and one guy was talking about how he had a conversation with God and basically said “ I’m done wrestling with you… I am giving up my life… I surrender to you.” About a day later, we had devotion time and I did the ‘I have no clue what to read so I’m just going to open up and point!’ So I did, and every single verse I read was about surrendering your life to God… Giving up my pride, and my laziness, and my coolness, and completely surrendering it to Him, and trusting that he has the best in store for me.
That night I decided ‘It's time.’ I decided that I was done having so called *‘Buyers remorse’ with my faith. I surrendered.
So when we look at baptism and see this class that is looming over your head, that's not what baptism means. When we look at baptism and see it as a thing that you have to do to be an “official Christian”, then we need to change our perspective. In order to clear this up, let’s look at what the bible says about baptism.
Acts 2:41 says “Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.” When I look at this verse, I don’t see anything about taking a  class. (not saying that classes are wrong, but lets look at their heart behind their baptism.)  Everyone that was baptized in this verse gave their life to Christ, right then and right there. They put there all in, like how Matthew 5:37 says “All you need to say is simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.”
In my life I didn’t surrender my life to God, I lived a life of knowing him, but not fully Loving him, and I didn’t  until I was baptised. When I was baptized It was a heart thing. God was calling me to get baptised, so I answered his call to my life, the call to leave my old ways of life behind and completely change to be a child of God with the Holy spirit living inside of me.
When the Bible says “Jesus answered, "Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.” (John 3:5) we often get confused because the Bible also says “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--”(Ephesians 2:8).
So knowing this what in the world is baptism? If I can only enter the kingdom of heaven through baptism, but I am not saved by my own works, and how hard I work to get into heaven, then isn’t the Bible contradicting itself? To put it plainly, nope. The Bible doesn’t contradict itself. In the early church being ‘Saved’ and ‘Baptized’ almost happened simultaneously. Because of God saving us, we surrender to God and are baptized.
“But what if i live a life for God, knowing that I have surrendered and am saved, but haven’t been baptized?” well then dear friend, this is where I introduce a new little buddy. His name is “Baptized in the spirit”. Being baptized in the spirit is another way being “saved”, which is also another way of turning to God. You can’t be saved by the act of being immersed to water, but it is a symbol of your commitment to God.
So when the next baptism opportunity pops up, and you want to get baptized, think about this. If you haven’t surrendered to God, then are you ready to radically change who you live for and how you live your life? If you have already surrendered to Christ, is God calling you to do this? Is your heart focused on God’s will? And lastly, PRAY! Pray like no other because God wants to have this conversation with you, and you never know how he is going to answer!

                                                                                          -Lauren Trapp

Salvation
What is salvation?  Salivation is not something you can just sum up in one word.  It is
the Lords eternal life.  Salvation is a gift, it cannot be earned.  I am going to share with you a
verse that you might like. This verse will explain some parts of salvation.

Romans 10:9-10 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

I like this verse because it really tells you that God will always be with you, When
you ask God into your heart and ask for forgiveness and love him with everything you have,
he will always be with you. Once you ask Him into your heart, He will not leave you.  God will
always be there for you, maybe you can not see him but he will always be listening to you. God sent his son to die for our sins and Jesus was happy to do it for us. He gave up his life for us
because he loves and cares for us. God wants the best for us and he will never do anything to
hurt us.

Made New in Christ

People worry from time to time about how their past may affect their future. Everybody worries about something. It’s one of the things that we all just do automatically. Sometimes it’s something really simple that is easily solved: “What will I eat for lunch, salad or burrito?” Sometimes it can be incredibly messy and complicated: “OH MY GOSH! LIKE, CHAD IS GOING OUT WITH TAYLOR, AND I LIKE CHAD SO THIS IS, LIKE, A MAJOR PROBLEM!” Okay, that was a bit over-exaggerated, but really, sometimes situations like that are troubling for people. But there is one question that really tends to haunt people: “Will everything in my past affect my future? Am I going to end up in the gutter or something like that?”

Well, I have an answer. If you believe that God loves you so much that He sent his Son, Jesus, down to this earth to die on a cross in your place and then rise again; then you will be saved and spend eternity with God.

Romans 10:9 – “That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

What some people might be still wondering is, “What does this have to do with my future?” When you have a relationship with God and have confessed your sins to Him and have asked for forgiveness, not one thing that you have done in the past matters to Him anymore.

2 Corinthians 5:17 – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

Do you see it? With Christ, you are a new person. You are no longer that person from the past. With God, we don’t have to worry about what we have done in the past; it doesn’t matter anymore. God just cares about you, not what you’ve done. God will protect us and help us through every situation.

1 John 5:18 – “We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him.”

“Well, if God is protecting me so that Satan can’t harm me, then why does all this bad stuff happen to me?” Well, that’s not what he meant, for starters. When it says that “God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him,” it means that because we are now part of God’s family, Satan has no power over us. He cannot dominate you or take control of your life anymore. Of course bad things will happen in life! I’m a Christian and a ton of really major bad things have happened in my life in the course of four years. But God uses those bad situations that we face to draw us closer to Him and better our relationship with him. He loves you so much.

2 Peter 3:9 – “The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

God is waiting for all of us to come to Him. He loves us all so much that he is patiently waiting for all of us.

Salvation

John 3:36

"Whoever believes in the son has eternal life: whoever does not obey the son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him."

As I was reading that verse it hit some places a little hard. As God says, "believe in Him and you'll be saved," but if we just believe and keeping making the same mistakes over and over again are we really going to be saved?

Its a real question daily if what I am doing is going to be enough to be saved?

God says believe in him and will be saved, but not only do we have to believe; we have to follow and not be afraid to stand up for what we believe in.

            Steps to be saved:
1) YOU have to leave it to you and GOD. It's your guys's relationship.

2) YOU have to admit your a sinner. Ask yourself if anything has been more important to you than God? No matter how big or small your sins have been they are sins from stealing a piece of gum, telling a lie, to even using OMG. They all count.

3) Repent from your old ways. If your friends, family, or anyone who you spent a lot of time with makes an influence on you to sin, repent away from them. Don't spend time with people that are going to pull you away from the Lord.

4) BE GLAD- Don't be afraid to believe and rejoice in God.

5) Now you have to stay connected with the lord.

6) When you need help go to the lord. We often look for help in the wrong places and it gets us in even more trouble. the Lord will always be there for us, He will always help us and lead us down the right track.

As Christians we sometimes forget the simple things. Not only do we have to keep believing, but we also have to follow and let our actions show it. We have to trust that God has his hand in everything and there in no need to worry about the unknown.

Others might have fears and questions about the same things you do. No matter our mistakes and our past, God loves us. He will always love us. God will be the only person who will always be there to help us with all out dark times and never turn away.

Salvation is...

 Salvation

When I was asked to define salvation in Bible class I answered: “Salvation is what God gives us when we put our trust in Him and believe that he is all powerful and died on the cross to take away our sins.”  I want to stress that salvation does not come from simply believing, but from a relationship with the Lord where God is father and we are the child. An active relationship in which the people involved talk to each other and grow together.  So I encourage everyone to take time out of your day, every day, to sit and have a conversation with the Lord. Those moments, even if only a few minutes, can make a big difference in your life and really draw you closer to the Father, who longs to talk to you and speak to you, but only if you listen.

“Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” James 2:17

I Try......

I think that salvation is only for when you do something really bad. You get in trouble with the law for it, and then that`s when you need God to save you. It`s really hard for me to tell if salvation is an important topic or not. I was never taught about God`s salvation and/or what it means. So it`s hard for me to come up with something to talk about. I feel like salvation is just a really hard topic for me to talk about. I don`t know if it`s because nothing comes to mind every time I really try to think about it, or whether it`s because I was never really was taught about it and don`t understand it that much. Salvation is important to a lot of people, and I get that. That is how they believe and how they want to understand. I totally get that. I just find it hard to put myself in different shoes and then they just don`t fit or feel right, if you know where I am coming from. To me, it`s not that important; to other people and their faith and their relationship with God, it`s extremely important to them and I`m not going to do anything about that, the way they grew up understanding that. I`m just kinda focusing on what I know and how I view things, I just want people to understand that sometimes it is hard but you have to push through; try to think how maybe others would as well.....
